Chicken Tikka made in Oven

Hai Friends...Hope you had a great day...

Chicken tikka is a famous dish all over India...Traditionally it is made in tandoor oven,But I made it in normal oven...It still tasted great...

The main thing you should remember is the marination of the chicken...I marinated over night so the flavour went deep into the chicken...You could let it marinate upto 2 days...

You could serve this as it is...But I made Chicken tikka masala with this and served it with rice...I will post it tomorrow...

Hot Chicken Tikka with a squeeze of lemon juice taste like heaven...My mouth is watering went I write this post...Ok anyway here you go for the recipe..

Chicken Breast- ½ kg
For Marinate:
Curd-1 cup
Red chilli powder-1 tblspn
Garam masala powder-2 tsp
Turmeric powder-1 tsp
Ginger Garlic paste-2 tblspn
Cardamom powder-1 tsp
Salt to taste
Lemon juice-2 tblspn
Red Food Colouring-a pinch

For Basing:
Lemon juice-2 tblspn
Oil-2 tblspn
Chat masala powder-1 tsp

Mix the marinate ingrediants together..Now add in chopped chicken pieces and mix well..

Let this marinate in the fridge over night..

Preheat the oven to the highest temperature..Mine went to 250°C(500°F)..

Take the chicken out of the fridge before 30 mins so that it comes to room temperature and cooks evenly
Arrange it in a foil lined baking tray..

Place the tray in the top rack and grill the chicken for 10 mins..

When 10 mins is over take the chicken out and apply the rest of the marinate over this and place it back in the oven for 10 mins.

Now mix lemon juice, oil, chat masala powder together for basing the chicken

Now take the tray out...Turn the chicken over and base it with the lemon liquid and place it back in the oven for 5 more mins.

Cook the chicken for 5 mins until the chicken is cooked and gets a little chared around the edges..

Remove this and serve hot..

Take all your ingrediants
Chop up your chicken

Take all your marinate ingrediants in a bowl

Mix it up
add in chicken pieces

mix well...Let this marinate over night

arrange it in foil lined tray
Grill it for 10 mins

Take the remaining marinate and the lemon liquid to base your chicken

apply the remaining marinate over half grilled chicken
cook it again...

now apply lemon liquid...

bake it again...

flip it over and base it again..Sorry i forgot to take picture...

grill you can see some charred bits over some chicken...Thats what you want..

Now plate it up...

I know this looks delicious...

I specially love this part of chicken..It has a smoky flavour to it...

You say grill and bake both. when you say grill do you mean the top grill option? or do you mean bake only?

Aarthi said... Best Blogger Tips

@Meeta Chaturvediyou have to grill the chicken, on top grill option.

Wow amazing... I hv two queries.
Are you using OTG or Microwave oven in grill mode?
My 2nd question is, does foil paper work in OTG Ovens, it doesnt burn?

Aarthi said... Best Blogger Tips

@Manalii used OTG
