Mint Chutney for Idli or Dosa


If you love the smell and flavour of mint then this chutney is for you...It has a slight sweet flavour comes through as you have this chutney...This chutney is perfect with hot idlis. I hope you love this chutney...Check out the step by step recipe with pictures..

Ingrediants:

Mint Leaves-2 cups
Onion-1 chopped
Garlic-1 fat clove
Cumin seeds / Jeerakam-1 tsp
Tamarind-1 tsp
Salt to taste
Sugar / Jaggery -1 tsp
Oil-1 tblspn

Method:


Heat oil in a kadai and add in cumin seeds..Let it crackle..

Now add in garlic and onions and mix well.

Add mint leaves and allow it to wilt..

Add tamarind,salt and sugar and mix well.

Let it cool down..Grind it in a blender till smooth.

Serve with idli or dosa..

Take all your ingrediants( add sugar in this list)
Chop up your onion and garlic

wash your mint leaves..

heat oil in a pan

add in cumin seeds

throw in onions and garlic

saute for 1 min

add in mint leaves

cook untill it is wilted

add in salt,sugar and tamarind

mix well

take this in a blender

and make it into a fine paste

Serve

hi aarthi.. I did this chutney few days before but i could not be able to grind smootly coz of the stem. So i could not be able to eat that chutney. From this experiment, i came to a conclusion that i should remove the stem from the leaves.. What about u ? Pls suggest ..

sitalekshmi..If you have a good blender you can even make a fine paste of the stalks too..BUt you can use the leaves alone for getting smooth paste..
