Many of you have been sending wishes through emails, comments, facebook and everything..And some of my lovely co-bloggers have even created a bridal shower for me..I will talk about that in my next post..But right off now, I am so happy that I have so many caring and lovable friends around me to think about me.. I am really really a blessed girl. Thank you so much for that guys..
Now coming to the recipe of the day. It is a healthy one which many of you must have never thought of making this at home..Yes it is a very very healthy whole wheat bread with no addition of maida (all purpose flour) to it. You might think that now we can find so many wheat breads out in the markets, why would spend time making it at home. But let me tell you a secret..The bread which you find in store have some maida added to it. I am not talking about the specially made bread which you find in big supermarkets. But most of them have maida added to it. So if you want a healthier option and need a good whole wheat bread them try this out..

| A slice of bread with some pineapple jam spread on top |
I made a very huge loaf of bread which was enough for our whole family for a week. We have one slice of bread which we toast in a toaster and spread some jams or any toppings and have it..Since it is a huge slice, only one is enough for us and it makes us pretty full..I would suggest eating this for breakfast along with some fruits and a glass of milk..I am sure that it is a healthy option than having regular white bread..I hope you will try this out and tell me how It turned out..Eat Healthy and Be Healthy.
Ingrediants:
Whole Wheat Flour – 6 cups / 720 gms + more for kneading
Yeast – 2 tblspn
Salt to taste
Sugar – 2 tblspn
Warm Water- 500 ml + as needed
Oats – 3 tblspn for sprinkling on top
Olive Oil – 3 tblspn
Method:
Take some warm water in a bowl and add in yeast in that. Mix well and allow it to rise for 5 mins.
Take a large mixing bowl and add the remaining water in it. Add sugar, salt and allow it to dissolve.
Pour in the yeast water in that and mix well.
Slowly add in the flour and keep mixing till it comes together. It will be sticky.
Drizzle 2 tblspn of oil over it and mix well.
Transfer it to a well oiled bowl and cover with a cloth. Allow it to rise for 1 hour.
Now tip this mixture to a well floured surface and start kneading. Knead it for 10 mins add more flour if needed.
When the dough gets smooth and sprinky, shape it in the form of the loaf pan and drop it in a well oiled loaf pan.
Cover it and let it rise for 1 hour.
Preheat the oven to 200°C / 400°F.
Take the rised bread and brush it with some milk or water and sprinkle some oats on top.
Bake this in the oven for 50-60 mins or till the bread is nice golden and cooked.
Remove from the oven and allow it to cool down completely before inverting to a cooling rack.
Slice and Serve.
Notes:
1.You can use two medium size loaf pan to bake this bread. I used my huge loaf pan for this. If you are using small loaf pan, the baking time will vary.
2.If you are in different places the rising time will change as per the temperature of the place.
3. Once cooled Transfer this bread to a refrigerator either in a air tight container or wrap it tightly with foil or cling wrap and use it accordingly.

Lovely healthy bread Arathi, I made something from your blog for your bridal shower hope you like it...
what a healthy recpie for bread. you have encouraged me to make this but i have some doubts which i hope you will clear it ,firstly on which rack of the oven should it be baked , secondly-while baking both the elements of the oven should be on as i have read in other blogs that for baking cakes, pizzas or cookies only bottom element /coil should be on.
i have a request that when you give recpeis for baking ,grilling ,please mention about these little things as things matters a lot for a new baker like me,
thanks and hope for the earliest reply
@AnonymousIt should be baked in the center rack..Both the elements should be on while baking bread, or you wont get even baking..
Hi Aarthi,
Just wanted to check if I can mix milk along with warm water so that I get a softer version of the bread?? I tried once yesterday but I tried with minimum quantity. I turned too hard!! So what is the mistake? Can I bake at little lesser temperature or for lesser time or what is the mistake? I baked 1 cup of flour for 25 mins. using ur instructions.. Thanks for your reply.
Geetha
