This is another one recipe which is passed to me by my mum..She make this often( atleast once a week ), she mixes this with hot steaming rice along with ghee(ofcourse, we add ghee in everything) and put it in our lunch boxes. Now I am following the same tradition and packing this in my hubby's lunch box, luckily he liked it a lot.

மிளகாய் பச்சடி / Amma's Chilli Onion Pachadi / Onion & Green Chillies Cooked in a Sweet Tamarind Sauce ( HOT, SOUR & SWEET )
This is my amma's famous recipe, she makes this more often than anything else..Whenever she makes her paruppu kulambu( DAL), it must be accompanied by this pachadi. Warm Dal mixed with hot rice along with a generous drizzle of homemade ghee and let's not forget the papadam, mix all those together, take a generous portion out of it( don't ask me how generous, as long as the portion fits your mouth) form it into round balls..Now comes the interesting part, dip that round ball in this pachadi and without any delay throw them into your mouth. I should tell you this, this taste like heaven..It reminds so much of amma for me…

One of the most requested recipe in YUMMY TUMMY is a proper mutton kulambu. I have been getting request for that from so many viewers. Last week I decided to give it a try. I made for my sister and we had a awesome lunch.
I pressure cooked mutton pieces with all the spices and a thick masala, this made the mutton so meltingly tender. If you have got a little time, let the gravy sit for a while so that the flavours will meld together and taste even more delicious..I served it with plain'ol rice, but this taste equally delicious with aapam, idiappam, roti and paratha.

I always love to have some healthy snacks at home, because if I started craving for something to eat, my first preference would be for deep fried or fatty stuffs. Of course I love those to eat, but sometimes I feel a little guilty in eating that…OK OK I don’t feel like that often but ….OK leave it..

Life is going so slow and lonely ever since hubby went on a office trip to delhi, he will be back after a week. I don't know how I am going to survive. Missing him so badly starting from the moment he left me. I am keeping myself busy all day and trying to concentrate my best in the work I do. I found myself that life is really really hard for me without him.

Now lets talk something about this chicken curry. I always wanted to make a chicken curry which has onion base in it. Couple of weeks back I found a bunch of spring onions which looked like it will go dry soon. I thought of putting it in right use somehow. I also had some big onions in my pantry, finally decided to make a curry of my dream. I used my pressure cooker for it, I love to use my pressure cooker to cook my chicken, because it makes the chicken cook untill it is tender and make the chicken to get maximum flavour.

One of the basic stuff in indian cooking is ginger garlic paste. Without this no dish is complete..These two stuffs gives a wonderful aroma to your food. Something happens when it hits hot oil or ghee, the magical aroma releases and fills the entire house telling people that you are cooking something wonderful. This makes the people who never enters the kitchen to take a peek into the kitchen..

If you ask me what is the best invention in kitchen appliances glossary is a proper rice cooker. I own a prestige rice cooker which is my bestest friend in kitchen. This clearly tells me that I should do a separate post for that. I am using my rice cooker from the day we bought it, it has never failed me. Each time it cooks rice perfectly and fluffy.

But I was a bit worried that it must have spoiled. But when it unwrapped it, I found that it was so fresh and still shining at me..From this I found that corn have a very long shelf life..Nice point right..
