Simple & Easy Vegetable Biryani Recipe / Vegetable Biryani Recipe / Veg Biryani Recipe


This is a kind of one pot meal..I make this biryani often, since it is so easy to make, but it taste so flavourful. I have quite a few biryani collection in this blog now..Biryani has become one of my main dish which i cook more often now.

Preparation Time : 10 mins
Cooking Time : 40 to 45 mins
Serves : 4 to 5

Ingredients:

Basmati Rice - 2 cups
Onion - 1 large sliced thinly
Tomatoes - 1 large chopped
Carrot - 1 medium size cubed
Potato - 1 medium size peeled and cubed
Beans - 10 chopped
Peas - 1/2 cup ( I used frozen)
Oil - 3 tblspn
Bay Leaf - 1 
Cinnamon / Pattai - 1 small stick
Cloves / Krambu - 4
Chilli powder - 2 tsp
Turmeric powder / Manjal podi - 1 tsp
Garam Masala powder - 2 tsp
Salt to taste
Milk or Cream - 1 cup
Curd - 1/2 cup
Water - 3 cup

For Masala:
Coriander leaves / Cilantro - 1/2 cup
Mint Leaves / Pudhina - 1/2 cup
Green Chilli - 3
Garlic - 6 cloves
Ginger - 2 inch piece  

Method:

Take the grinding ingredients in a blender and make into a smooth paste.

Heat oil in a huge pan. Add in cinnamon, bay leaf and cloves.

Add in sliced onions and cook till it turns light golden.

Now add in the ground masala and mix well.

Add in the tomatoes and saute till oil separates.

Add in chilli powder, salt, turmeric and garam masala powder.Mix that till oil separates.

Add in curd, vegetables and mix well. Cook for 5 mins or so.

Add in soaked drained rice and toss well in the masala.

Add in water and milk. Mix well and bring it to a boil.

Cover with a lid, simmer for 20 to 25 mins till the rice is done. Now turn off the heat and let it sit for 10 mins. Now open the pan and fluff it up.

Serve with raita.

Take all your ingredients

When the onion turns golden, add the ground masala


Saute till oil separates


Add in chopped tomatoes


Add salt and spice powders
Add in curd


Now goes the vegetables


Add the soaked rice


Saute them well


Add water and bring it to boil


Cover and simmer


Cook till rice is done


Serve

  2. Wen ever u cook briyani do avoid adding turmeric powder and corriander powder. Try it. We muslims wnt add they both - Nasreen

  7. @SangeethaYes u can do it cooker..Cook it for 1 whistle. Then turn off the heat and let the steam go all by itself

  17. Thanks for the recipe. I dont know to use pressure cooker. But i can able to cook in a pan easily. I want to know rice to water ratio. For example 200g of rice how much ml of water. How much grams of rice i should take for 6 people
