Simple Curd Rice Recipe - Yogurt Rice Recipe - Thayir Sadam Recipe



Curd rice is my absolute favorite one..It is my comfort food. When i dont feel like eating anything heavy for lunch like rice, curries and kuzhambu, i make myself some curd rice and it is totally yummy. I already have a fruity curd rice in my blog, but this one is a simple method of making it.

The key to make a tasty and kids friendly curd rice or yogurt rice is to add less yogurt and more milk which makes it more tasty.

Preparation Time : 5 mins
Cooking Time : 20 to 30 mins
Serves : 3 to 4

Ingredients:


Rice - 1 cup uncooked

Water - 4 cups 
Milk - 2 cup or as needed
Curd / Yogurt - 3 tblspn
Salt to taste
Coriander leaves a handful finely chopped

For Seasoning:

Oil -  1 tblspn
Mustard Seeds / Kaduku - 1 tsp
Urad Dal / Ulundu paruppu - 1 tsp
Asafoetida / Hing / Kaya Podi - 1/4 tsp
Curry Leaves - 1 sprig
Ginger - 1 tblspn grated
Green Chilli - 1 chopped finely

Method:


Take rice in a pressure cooker and add water to it. Cook it for 4 to 5 whistle. Simmer for 10 mins.  Switch off the heat and let the pressure go all by itself. Open and mash it up.


Now add salt to it and mix well.Add in yogurt and milk and mix well.


Now make tempering. Heat oil in a frying pan heat it up. Add in mustard ,urad dal and asafoetida. Fry it for 30 sec.


Add in ginger, green chilli and curry leaves. Saute for 30 seconds or so.


Pour this over the rice and mix well. Add coriander leaves and mix well.


Serve with pickle.

now it is done


add salt


and some yogurt or curd


add in milk


mix well and keep adding more milk..as the rice cools the rice will get thick, so add milk accordingly


take ingredients for tempering


heat oil or ghee in a pan..add in mustard seeds


add in urad dal


add in asafoetida


add in grated ginger


add in curryleaves


you can add some chopped green chillies
let this sizzle


pour this in




add in coriander leaves


mix well


Serve
