I have recently started including brown rice in my diet. I dont like brown rice before, but when hubby and me started diet, we have strictly avoided rice, but when we feel like having rice, this is the rice which i prefer to use. I bought this container of brown rice when we visited supermarket before, i totally loved it a lot and using it a lot now. I am using this for making biryani as well and finding it turn out good.
How to Cook Basmati Rice
Drain and Use accordingly.
|I used India Gate Brown Rice|
|I love the aroma as well as it is not as pungent
as normal brown rice
|Measure your rice in a bowl|
|Wash them well|
|Cover with water and soak it for 1 hour|
|This soaking process softens the rice a bit and
cooks it little faster
|I always prefer cooking brown rice by draining method,
but when i am in a hurry i use pressure cooker to cook rice.
|Add salt to boiling water|
|add the drained rice|
|let it come up to a rolling boil again|
|let it cook for 10 mins or so|
|you can see the rice getting little softer|
|now simmer the pot and keep cooking
while you keep on tasting the rice.
I cooked it for 5 to 7 more mins..
|I like my rice all fluffy and the rice looking separated..
Just like this
|So i drain them..you can keep on cooking till your
prefered texture reaches
|Serve hot with curry..|
|I made a simple egg biryani using this..|
