    Puli Kulambu Recipe

    This is one of our favourite. I make it at least once a week and it is a family favourite. This kulambu with hot rice and papad is heaven.

    Kathirikkai Puli Kuzhambu Ingredients

    Oil - 4 to 5 tblspn
    Mustard Seeds / Kaduku - 1 tsp
    Urad dal / Ulundu Paruppu - 1 tsp
    Fenugreek Seeds / Vendayam / Methi - ¼ tsp
    Curry leaves a small handful
    Shallots / Sambar Onion - 10 peeled
    Tomato - 1 large chopped
    Brinjal - 2 chopped
    Salt to taste
    Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
    Chilli Powder - 1 tblspn
    Coriander Powder - 2.5 tblspn
    Jaggery or Sugar - 2 tsp
    Tamarind - 1 lemon size
    Water as needed

    Kathirikai Puli Kulambu Recipe Method

    1. Soak tamarind in water for 10 mins. Squeeze and extract the pulp.
    2. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard, urad dal, fenugreek and curry leaves.
    3. Add in shallots, brinjal and tomatoes and saute for 5 mins till it slightly turns golden.
    4. Add in a spice powder, salt and mix well. Add tamarind juice and mix well.
    5. Add jaggery and mix well.
    6. Bring it to a boil, simmer for 10 to 15 mins till done.
    7. Serve with rice.

      Hi.. I prepared puli kulambu masala.. Now seeing this puli kulambu receipe y have added coriander powder... I was confused, which one to add??
