I have already share carrots and potato puree in my blog already. For a variation i added some beetroots in the puree as well. So it is more healthy and nutrition. Beetroots has not only the amazing colour, it is rich in anti-oxidants,folate, manganese, potassium, vitamin -A and many other properties. So it is good for your babies.

I introduced beetroots to maha by making it as a puree. But she didn't like it. But i wanted to add beets to her diet. So i added it with the carrots and potato and made it as a puree. This way The carrots made the puree little sweeter and potatoes made it more creamier.

    Things to remember:

1)Texture of the puree depends upon you, i would recommend you to make the puree smooth.
2)Your baby wont empty the whole bowl all at once, start with few spoons then increase it gradually as days pass by.

3)In my opinion & experience potatoes wont cause any constipation in babies. But it may cause gas in some babies. Any how i wont feed this puree daily, i give it thrice a week.

4)I don't prefer freezing purees. I make it fresh everyday. But if you are busy or find difficult to get time, then freeze it in individual containers and thaw it overnight in fridge.

5)When choosing potatoes, get firm, white variety. And carrots and beets should be sweet and firm.

6)Potato, carrots and beets are less likely to have any allergenic reactions.

7)After having this puree, your babys poop will be red in color. Don't panic seeing that, it is because of the beets.

Start by sterilizing the bowls and spoons which you are going to feed your baby. Take the bowl and spoon in a large saucepan, cover it with water and bring them to a boil. Boil it rapidly for 5 mins. Now you can turn the heat off and leave them stay in the hot water till use.

    1. Choose a fresh, firm potato, beetroot and carrot. Wash them well. Peel them slightly.
    2. Cube them. Put them in water and wash them well till there is no starch.
    3. Now transfer them in a sauce pan, cover them with clean water.
    4. Place it on stove and bring it to boil. Cover it and simmer it.
    5. Cook for 12 to 15 mins till the veggies are completely cooked.
    6. Now drain the veggies to a bowl or a mixer. Reserve the cooking liquid.
    7. You can puree them in a blender or use a hand blender.

I jus read that beetroots should be steamed with skin and we should nt cut off the skin and boil it, since the nitrates in beets will enter into the water..also the reserved water of beets shudnt be used for smoothening the beetroot puree..so pls sisters browse oncemore to confirm my point..earlier i was making the same mistake too..nw i m nt..
