    Chicken uppu kari or Kozhi Uppu kari is an easy and tasty side dish which can be made in few mins. It needs just basic ingredients and taste amazing.

    Chicken uppu kari is a popular South Indian dish that translates to "chicken salt curry." It is a flavorful and spicy chicken curry prepared using a combination of spices and ingredients. 

    Chicken uppu kari is a traditional dish from the state of Tamil Nadu in South India. Tamil Nadu has a rich culinary heritage, and chicken uppu kari is one of the many delicious dishes that originated from the region.

    In Tamil, "uppu" means salt, and "kari" refers to a spicy curry or dish. As the name suggests, chicken uppu kari is a flavorful chicken curry seasoned with spices and balanced with salt. It is known for its bold and spicy flavors that are characteristic of Tamil Nadu cuisine.

    Ingredients for Chicken Uppu Kari 

    Chicken

    You can use small pieces of chicken or use chicken as big as you like. The smaller the chicken the faster it cooks. 

    Spices

    Chicken absorbs all the flavour which you add into this. Use chilli powder, garam masala powder for maximum punch in your chicken. 

    Salt & Pepper

    Freshly crushed black pepper and salt is used in this chicken uppu kari.

    Ingredients
      

    • 500 grams Chicken cut into small pieces
    • 2 tablespoon Ginger Garlic Paste
    • Salt to taste
    • 1 tablespoon Chilli Powder
    • 2 teaspoon Garam masala powder
    • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
    • 4 tablespoon Coconut Oil
    • 5 Dry Red Chilli broken
    • 1 handful Curry Leaves a handful
    • 1 Onion chopped
    • 1 tablespoon Black Pepper powder
    • Coriander leaves chopped

    Instructions
     

    • Take chicken, salt, ginger garlic paste, turmeric, chilli and garam masala powder in a pan. Add little water and cook till chicken is done.
    • Heat coconut oil in a pan, add in curry leaves, dry red chillies and fry for a min.
    • Add onions and ginger garlic paste and mix well.
    • Add chicken and toss well. Cook for 5 to 7 mins.
    • Add in pepper powder and mix well. Finally add coriander leaves too.
    • Serve.

    Chicken Uppu Kari Recipe Step by Step Pictures

    1)Take Chicken in an earthern ware kadai

    2)Add salt

    3)Add ginger garlic paste

    4)Add in chilli power, turmeric powder and garam masala powder

    5)Add in water

    6)Mix well

    7)Cook till chicken is tender

    8)Now in the same pot, add in coconut oil

    9)Add in dry red chillies

    10)Add curry leaves

    11)Add in sliced onions

    12)Add some ginger garlic paste

    13)Mix well

    14)Add in cooked chicken

    15)Stir well

    16)Keep cooking and stiring for 5 to 6 mins

    17)Add in black pepper powder

    18)Add in coriander leaves

    19)Mix well

    20)Serve
