Chocolate Chips & Almonds Streusal Pudding Cake – Cooking with my Sister

I am up with another awesome recipe from my sister..This is moreover a fusion recipe from me and my sis, because I gave her the recipe and she made it..I helped her a little as well..

This was our first attempt in trying streusal cakes. I never knewed that a cake can taste so good when there is a streusal on top. It is so buttery and had a crunchy top with a moist interior. The chocolate chips and almonds on the top just sank down and melted beautifully which just created a fudgy gooey chocolaty interior. Those Almonds also got so beautifully toasted..This tasted more like a pudding with a crunchy topping rather than a cake, hence the name..

Once the cake is baked, we waited so impatiently to slice it down..My sister was burst with happiness when she took her first bite..It was so good..We craved for a scoop of icecream on the side..If you ever try this please have some vanilla icecream on the side, it will taste so heavenly..I am planning to try out more streusal cakes and cupcake in the future….I hope you will enjoy it and mush as we did and tell me how it turned for you..

Ingredients:
All Purpose Flour / Maida – 1 cup / 120 gms
Sugar – 1/2 cup / 100 gms
Egg – 1
Unsalted Butter – 50 gms softened
Baking Soda – 1 tsp
Salt – 1/4 tsp
Milk – 1/4 cup / 60 ml / 2 fluid ounces
For Streusal Topping:
Butter – 50 gms
Sugar – 1/2 cup / 100 gms
All Purpose Flour / Maida – 1/4 cup / 30 gms
Chocolate Chips – 1/2 cup / 75 gms
Almonds / Badam (Any Nuts) – 1/4 cup / 40 gms
Method:
Preheat the oven to 170 Degree C / 340 Degree F. Prepare a Baking pan by applying butter all the sides and dusting it with flour.
Start by making the streusal topping. Take butter, sugar and flour in a bowl and fork it through so that you get crumb like texture.
Now add in the chocolate chips and almonds and fork again..Now you will get a very crumbly mixture. Put this streusal mixture in freezer till use.
Now make the cake batter. Mix flour, baking soda and salt together and set aside.
Take butter and sugar in a bowl and beat till creamy.
Add in one egg and beat again till it gets smooth and fluffy.
Add in the flour mixture along with the milk and mix well.
Pour this batter in the prepared cake tin.
Now take the streusal topping out of the freezer and give one final fork through.
Top this all over the cake and put the tin in the oven and bake it for 35-40 mins. Insert a tooth pick to see if the cake is cooked.
Remove it from the oven and allow the cake to cool for 10 mins. Now loosen the edges and invert the cake over a plate and invert it again.
Now cut a small slice and serve warm with icecream.

This looks like a great recipe, Aarthi!!! Will the streusel topping quality be affected if I cut down on the butter?

@beingFabU can reduce the amount of butter, it is not a problem. But don't skip it completely.
