Spicy Thengai Paal Puli kuzhambu or Coconut Milk Puli kuzhambu taste amazing with some hot rice.
Ingredients
  • Gingelly Oil - 4 tblsp
  • Mustard seeds / kaduku - 1 tsp
  • Urad dal / Ulundu paruppu - 1 tsp
  • Fenugreek seeds / Methi / Vendayam - ½ tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  • Curry leaves a handful
  • Shallots / Sambar Onion - 10
  • Garlic - 10 cloves
  • Puli kulambu podi - 2 to 4 tblsp
  • Salt to tatse
  • Jaggery / Sugar - 1 tsp
  • Tamarind - 1 small lemon size
  • Thick Coconut Milk - 1 cup
Instructions
  1. Heat oil in a pan. Add in seasoning ingredients and let them sizzle.
  2. Add in shallots, garlic,and cook for 2 mins.
  3. Add in salt, spice powders and toast for 2 mins.
  4. Add in tamarind water, water, and mix well.
  5. Add in jaggery and cook on low heat for 10 mins.
  6. Add in coconut milk and mix well.
  7. Serve with rice.
