Gobi 65 is a popular indian snack or appetizer made using cauliflower. Cauliflower is coated in spices, ginger, garlic and lemon juice. Later it is coated in cornflour, rice flour and fried till crispy. It is a cauliflower-based variant of Chicken 65.
Gobi 65 Recipe
Gobi 65 is one of my all time favorite. I make it quite often, this is my mom's favorite one too. Fried cauliflower is quite a tasty dish and it goes as a perfect appetizer with soups.
Crispy cauliflower 65 is made using cauliflower coated in spices, ginger, garlic and lemon juice. Later it is coated in cornflour, rice flour and fried till crispy. It is a cauliflower-based variant of Chicken 65.

This method is a kind of restaurant style gobi 65. I added some bell peppers, garlic in these and tossed with the fried gobi to make it more tasty and flavourful. You can even add a drop of soya sauce to the veggies to make it more tasty.
How to Make Restaurant Style Gobi 65
- Take chopped gobi in a sauce pan with water. Boil it with some salt and turmeric powder till it is cooked. Drain it and set aside.
- Take all the batter ingredients in a bowl. Add water and make into a smooth paste.
- Heat oil for deep frying. Drop in the cauliflower pieces in oil and fry till golden. Drain and set aside.
- Now heat 1 tsp of oil in a kadai. Add in garlic and curry leaves. Fry for 30 sec.
- Add in chillies and onions and saute for a min. Now add in bell peppers and salt and mix well.
- Now add in fried gobi and mix well.
- Serve hot.

Version 2 Gobi 65 Recipe (Simple Method)
Gobi 65 is one of the dish we make in our house more often than anything else. Whenever we buy cauliflower this dish has to be done. Amma insist me to make this always, because this was her favorite. I already have gobi 65 recipe in this which is a little different than this. This one is so easy and far quicker to make. You can check out my simple cauliflower fry recipe too. I will soon post the restaurant style gobi 65 soon.
Gobi 65 Preparation
- Grind ginger and garlic to a paste without adding water.
- Now boil cauliflower in salted water till it is tender. It will take around 10 mins. Drain and set aside.
- Take that in a bowl and add all the other ingredients except oil and mix well.
- Heat oil for deep frying, fry the cauliflower till it is golden. drain in a paper towel.
- Serve hot with sweet chilli sauce or ketchup.

Ingredients
RESTAURANT STYLE GOBI 65
- Cauliflower - 1 medium size cut into bite size florets
- Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
- Salt to taste
- Oil for deep frying
For Batter:
- All Purpose Flour / Maida - 1 cup
- Corn Flour - ½ cup
- Rice Flour - ¼ cup
- Salt to taste
- Sugar - 2 tsp
- Ajinomoto / MSG - to taste optional
- Chilli powder - 2 tsp
- Tomato Ketchup - 3 tblspn
- Turmeric powder / Manjal podi - ½ tsp
- Garam Masala powder - 2 tsp
- Ginger Garlic Paste - 2 tblspn
- Water as needed
For Masala:
- Oil - 1 tsp
- Garlic - 6 cloves sliced thinly
- Onion - 1 small sliced thinly
- Green Chilli - 2 slit
- Bell peppers - 1 sliced i used red, green and yellow
- Salt to taste
- Curry leaves - 1 sprig
GOBI 65 RECIPE
- Cauliflower - 2 cups cut into small florets
- Ginger - 1 tblspn
- Garlic - 4 cloves
- Chilli powder - 2 tsp
- Garam Masala Powder - 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder - ½ tsp
- Rice flour / Arisi Mavu - 2 tblspn
- All purpose flour / Maida - 2 tblspn
- Cornflour / Cornstarch- 2 tblspn
- Salt to tate
- Oil for deep frying

Good idea to replace curd or lemon with ketchup. Tastes nicely. But after masala tos gets soft. Anything wrong my side?
