I just dont want to feed the same food again and again for maha. So instead of giving the same veg and fruit purees again and again, i have started adding dals to veggies or make real dal purees for her. She just loves it. This is my first recipe, i will share few more variations soon..Since green gram is very healthy for your babies, you can feed this 3 to 4 times a week. I change the dals each day and make sure that her diet gets dals everyday.

I have another version where i give sprouted green gram mash to her, it is even more healthy..You can check this recipe for making sprouts and follow the same procedure as this, but use sprouted green gram instead of normal ones..

    Things to remember:

1)Texture of the puree depends upon you, i would recommend you to make the puree smooth.

2)Your baby wont empty the whole bowl all at once, start with few spoons then increase it gradually as days pass by.

3)In my opinion & experience green gram wont cause any constipation in babies.

    4) I don't prefer freezing purees. I make it fresh everyday.

6)Green Grams are less likely to have any allergenic reactions.

      Hi!
I have a question. Do we need to soak dahls before using in any of your recipes? Specifically this one, khichdi powder and the health mix?
Also, i made the khichdi mix without soaking, should i use it or discard it and make a new one?
      Thanks!
