Homemade Rasam Mix Recipe
Working and Cooking after marriage is really tough. I am really feeling the pressure during the peek morning hours. So I decided to plan ahead and find some easy ways to solve this problem. My husband is so sweet to get me a huge side by side refrigerator for me as my wedding gift. I didn't start yet to use it completely, but the time has come now. Thought of using the freezer as my friend and take advantage of it completely. Have started to find new tricks and techniques which makes my life easier. I have started freezing everything.
About Rasam Mix Recipe
A freezer is the best friend of a busy cook. You can freeze pretty much anything. They will keep everything fresh for a long time. So whenever you feel sick or feel not to cook anything, then freezer comes in handy for you all. I have started to stock foods in my freezer to make my life simpler. One of the saviour is this rasam mix, I am completely love with this idea.
During busy morning the first thing which comes to your mind is making rasam for lunch, but due to the constant power cut in the morning I am finding it difficult to grind stuff for that. At first I thought of grinding the ingredients(garlic, chilli and cumin) needed for the rasam and freeze it. Then I thought why not make rasam mix and freeze it.
I got into action and found this method to be very useful.
So thought of sharing this with you all. What is your way of freezing foods, I would love to hear from you all. I will share more of my freezing techniques with you all in my coming post.

Here are my freezing tips..
1. Freeze tamarind pulp and cut a small portion from it and add to the dal while cooking.
2. Freeze fresh coconut pieces and use as needed for coconut chutney.
3.Chicken masala paste (fresh coconut, poppy seeds, coriander seeds, cinnamon, cloves) can be frozen in small containers to make chicken kurma.
4.Freeze finely chopped ginger and use as needed for upma during busy mornings.
5.store a bag of frozen mixed veggies in the freezer and use when needed.to make fried rice or mixed veg kurma in a jiffy.
Also, I store idlies in the fridge for not more than a week.I microwave 5 at a time for a min and serve them hot. This is very helpful during busy mornings. My mom has been doing this and I find it very easy.

Good one dear. Welcome to freezeland. Freeze veggies, sprouts, fried masala pastes, ginger garlic. In short store your kitchen in the freeze. You may find it more convenient to use plastic pags but that is when your freezer is jammed.

Aarti, one question,...when the power is gone for hours , whatever kept in the fridge will be thawed automatically right? If thats not a problem for you, could u pls give a brief explanation, how you will freeze it. Thank you so much for the advice in advance.
Aarthi
@Sridevi PadalaIn our place. the power is going during peek morning hours, so i find it difficult for cooking. Infact the freezer remains cool for hours, so there is no chance of defrosting.

When ready to make rasam, you said defrost, add water and seasoning. Can you elaborate on what seasoning specifically? Salt? Anything else?
Thanks for the idea.
