    Onion Coconut Chutney

    Onion chutney takes place in our breakfast menu quite often, since hubby loves it so much. I make quite a few variations to it..Check out my coconut coriander chutney, coconut chilli chutney, coconut garlic chutney and my keralan style coconut chutney..You can also check out my coconut malli thogayal too. Hope you will give this a try and let me know how it turns out for you..

    Ingredients for Onion Coconut Chutney

    • Oil - 1 tsp
    • Dry Red Chilli - 3 to 4
    • Garlic - 3 to 4
    • Onion - 1 large chopped
    • Coconut - 3 tbsp
    • Tamarind a small piece
    • Salt to taste

    For Seasoning:

    • Oil - 1 tbsp
    • Mustard Seeds / Kaduku - 1 tsp
    • Urad dal / Ulundu Paruppu - ½ tsp
    • Curry leaves a sprig

    How to Make Onion Coconut Chutney

    1. Heat oil in a pan, add garlic and dry red chilli. Saute for a min.
    2. Add in onions and cook that for 5 mins or so.
    3. Add in coconut and mix well. Cook that for a min.
    4. Take this in a blender, add salt and tamarind. Grind it to a smooth paste. Take it in a bowl.
    5. Heat little oil in the same pan, crackle mustard and urad dal.
    6. Add in curry leaves and mix well. Pour this over the chutney and mix well.
    7. Serve.

    • 1 tsp Oil

    • 3 to 4 Garlic
    • 1 large chopped Onion

    • Salt to taste
