This is my old recipe post, I have updated this with new pictures..Hope you will like it

Todays recipe is Palak Paneer….Palak Paneer is a traditional North Indian delicacy and is an integral part of the Punjabi cuisine.I don’t eat spinach a lot,but I love palak in anyform..This spinach has a unique taste and flavour. One tip which i can give you is, if you want a very softer paneer,Do the following steps…..Take a sauce pan with water and boil it,when it comes to a good boil add the paneer and simmer it for 2 min, take it off the flame and let it sit in that water for 5 min,Drain it and use.Sometimes the paneer we use will be so stringy and tough…..By this method your paneer will just melts in your mouth. So please try this dish and let me know what you think..

Preparation Time: 15 mins
Cooking Time: 40 to 45 mins
Serves – 4 to 5

Ingredients:
Palak leaves(pasala keerai)- about 5 cups
Paneer – 200 grams cubed
Onion-1 large chopped finely
Tomato-1 large chopped finely
Ginger Garlic Paste – 1 tblspn
Kasuri methi leaves -1 tblspn
Green Chilli – 3 finely chopped
Garam masala powder-1 tsp
Shahi Jeera / Black Jeera -1 tblspn
Fresh cream-2 tblspn

Butter – 5 tblspn

Salt to taste
Method:

How to make Palak Puree:
Add palak with a 1 cup of water in a sauce pan and boil it for 5 min.Let it cool and make it into a fine paste.

Palak Gravy Recipe:
In a kadai add butter and heat it up.Add in cumin seeds  and cook for 1 min.
Add in the onions and fry till golden, it will take a good 5 mins.Add in ginger garlic paste, green chilli and saute for a min.

Add in tomatoes and cook till oil separates, this will take 5 to 7 mins.

Now pour in the palak puree and mix well. Cook it for 10 mins.(Do not cover the pan,if you cover, you wont get the rich green colour)

Add in kasuri methi leaves, garam masala powder and salt.

Add in the required amount of water(if needed) and mix well.

Add in the paneer cubes and simmer the gravy for 15 to 20 mins.

Add a dollop of fresh cream and mix well. Switch off the flame.
While serving add some more butter. Serve hot with paratha or puri.

Looks very good! And I think it must be also very yummy. I like Asian (also Indian) cuisine and I think, I must try something different than usually 🙂

Aarthi, pls advise whether you use spinach leaves only or leaves and stem? I use the latter but find myself biting into pieces of fiber which spoils the experience of having this wonderful dish. Another question – I normally cook the spinach with onions, garlic before blending it. Is there any difference to taste? Thanks.
