Prawn 65 Recipe – Spicy Shrimp Fry Recipe

Prawn is hubby’s favorite. Since many of my viewers have told me that i dont have much prawn recipes in my blog. I have started cooking with them and posting here.

Chilli Prawns
This is a very famous recipe which we order often when we dine in any restuarant. It is spicy, crispy and hot. Love it with a bowl of soup or with some ketchup..

Preparation Time : 5 mins
Marinating Time : 15 mins
Cooking Time : 10 mins
Serves : 3 to 4

Ingredients:

Prawns – 20
Salt to taste
Turmeric Powder / Manjal Podi – 1 tsp
Oil for deep frying

For Marinating:
Chilli Powder – 2 tsp
Garam Masala Powder – 2 tsp
Ginger Garlic paste – 1 tblspn
Lemon Juice – 2 tblspn
Cornstarch / Cornflour – 1/4 cup or as needed
Coriander leaves – 2 tblspn finely chopped
Curry leaves – 1 sprig torn into small pieces
Salt to taste
Water few spoons if needed

Method:

Mix prawns with salt and turmeric powder. Set aside for 10 mins.

Add it to a pot and keep cooking it for 2 to 3 mins untill the raw smell leaves from it and it is half way cooked. Now remove it to a bowl and let it cool down.

Now add in all the other ingredients and mix well. Leave it for 5 mins.

Deep fry in oil till crispy.

Drain and serve.

Pictorial:
Take prawns in a bowl
season with little salt
add in turmeric
mix well and set aside for few minutes
add it to a pot
cook for few minutes till raw smell leaves from it
now it is half way cooked
remove it to a bowl
take other stuffs
add chilli powder and garam masala powder
add in ginger garlic paste
add in lemon juice
add in curry leaves
add in coriander leaves
mix well
season with salt..add very little since we added salt when we cooked the prawns
mix well
add in cornflour
mix well..leave this to sit for 10 mins
deep fry in oil
fry till crispy
drain it
serve

    Hi Arthi,
    Thanks for the receipe.your dishes are really awesome.can you please clarify a dbt,why do we saute prawns initially and then deep fry it again?
    Can we deep fry them directly ?

    @Anonymouscooking prawns first takes the raw fishy taste which i dont like at all. and makes the prawn more juicy

    I tried this recipe and it came out 5 star standard. Never tasted anywhere prawn 65 this good. It was delicious & crunchy. Myself & my hubby enjoyed it so much and he was very happy to finish most of it. Thanks so much Aarthi! God bless you & family

    Came out superb!! I had some left over prawns I already cleaned & marinated in turmeric, salt and ginger garlic paste for a day. I decided to try this recipe. The only change I made is- I added red food coloring. Everything else was exact. It was just too damn good! The crispiness from the corn starch added that extra flavor lol. Had for dinner with beans carrot poriyal and sambar sadam. I’m going to try this exact recipe with chicken thighs in a few days.
