    Simple & Easy Vegetable Biryani

    This is a kind of one pot meal. I make this biryani often, since it is so easy to make, but it taste so flavourful. I have quite a few biryani collection in this blog now. Biryani has become one of my main dish which I cook more often now.

    Ingredients for Simple & Easy Vegetable Biryani

    • Basmati Rice - 2 cups
    • Onion - 1 large sliced thinly
    • Tomatoes - 1 large chopped
    • Carrot - 1 medium size cubed
    • Potato - 1 medium size peeled and cubed
    • Beans - 10 chopped
    • Peas - ½ cup ( I used frozen)
    • Oil - 3 tblspn
    • Bay Leaf - 1 
    • Cinnamon / Pattai - 1 small stick
    • Cloves / Krambu - 4
    • Chilli powder - 2 tsp
    • Turmeric powder / Manjal podi - 1 tsp
    • Garam Masala powder - 2 tsp
    • Salt to taste
    • Milk or Cream - 1 cup
    • Curd - ½ cup
    • Water - 3 cup
    • For Masala:
    • Coriander leaves / Cilantro - ½ cup
    • Mint Leaves / Pudhina - ½ cup
    • Green Chilli - 3
    • Garlic - 6 cloves
    • Ginger - 2 inch piece  

    How to make Simple & Easy Vegetable Biryani

    1. Take the grinding ingredients in a blender and make into a smooth paste.
    2. Heat oil in a huge pan. Add in cinnamon, bay leaf and cloves.
    3. Add in sliced onions and cook till it turns light golden.
    4. Now add in the ground masala and mix well.
    5. Add in the tomatoes and saute till oil separates.
    6. Add in chilli powder, salt, turmeric and garam masala powder. Mix that till oil separates.
    7. Pour in curd, vegetables and mix well. Cook for 5 mins or so.
    8. Add in soaked drained rice and toss well in the masala.
    9. Add in water and milk. Mix well and bring it to a boil.
    10. Cover with a lid, simmer for 20 to 25 mins till the rice is done. Now turn off the heat and let it sit for 10 mins. Now open the pan and fluff it up.
    11. Serve with raita.

    Ingredients

    • 1 large chopped Tomatoes
    • 1 medium size cubed Carrot
    • 1 medium size peeled and cubed Potato
    • 10 chopped Beans
    • ½ cup Peas I used frozen
    • 3 tblspn Oil
    • 1 Bay Leaf
    • 1 small stick Cinnamon / Pattai
    • 4 Cloves / Krambu
    • 2 tsp Chilli powder
    • 1 tsp Turmeric powder / Manjal podi
    • 2 tsp Garam Masala powder
    • Salt to taste
    • 1 cup Milk or Cream
    • ½ cup Curd
    • Water
    • For Masala:
    • ½ cup Coriander leaves / Cilantro
    • ½ cup Mint Leaves / Pudhina
    • 3 Green Chilli
    • 6 cloves Garlic
    • 2 inch piece Ginger

      Wen ever u cook briyani do avoid adding turmeric powder and corriander powder. Try it. We muslims wnt add they both - Nasreen

      @SangeethaYes u can do it cooker..Cook it for 1 whistle. Then turn off the heat and let the steam go all by itself

      Thanks for the recipe. I dont know to use pressure cooker. But i can able to cook in a pan easily. I want to know rice to water ratio. For example 200g of rice how much ml of water. How much grams of rice i should take for 6 people
