Toor Dal & Rice Upma Recipe – Tuvaram Paruppu Upma with step wise pictures.

Toor Dal Rice Upma Recipe

Ingredients

  • Raw Rice - 1 cup
  • Toor Dal - 1/2 cup
  • Oil - 2 tblsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • Urad dal - 1 tsp
  • Asafoetida / Hing / Kaya podi a pinch
  • Onion - 1 chopped finely
  • Green Chillies - 2 chopped finely
  • Salt to taste
  • Curry leaves a sprig
  • Salt to taste
  • Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
  • Water as needed

Instructions

  • Take raw rice and toor dal in a blender and powder till fine.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add in mustard, and all ingredients given and saute for a min.
  • Add in 1 cup water for 1 cup ground powder.
  • Bring it to a boil.
  • Once it boils add in the flour. Mix well using the back of the spoon.
  • If it is not crumbly add more flour and mix well.
  • Cook till it gets crumbly.
  • Cover and simmer for 5 mins.
  • Serve.

4)Make it into a fine powder

5)Heat oil in a pan

6)Add in mustard and urad dal

7)Add asafoetida

8)Mix well

9)Add in chopped onions, curry leaves and chillies

10)Mix well

11)Add chilli powder

12)Mix well

13)Add water

14)Add salt

15)Bring it to a boil

16)Add in rice and dal mix in

17)Mix well

18)Mix well so it is nice and crumbly

19)Like this.

20)Cook covered for 6 to 7 mins

21)Add coconut

22)Mix well and serve.
