Ingredients

  • 8 slices Brioche Bread
  • 3 large Egg
  • 2 tbsp Vanilla Custard Powder (or use 2 egg yolks)
  • 2 tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp Vanilla Extract
  • 4 tbsp Sugar
  • 1 cup Milk
  • ¼ cup Unsalted Butter

Instructions

  • Take custard powder and milk in a bowl. If you don't have custard powder. Use 2 egg yolks.
  • Take eggs, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, custard powder mix, and milk and mix well.
  • Pour this egg milk custard in a large pan. Cut bread into triangles, place bread on top.
  • Pour the remaining custard on top. Leave aside for 5 mins so the bread absorbs all the custard.
  • Melt butter in a pan and heat. Place bread on top and cook on low heat for 3 to 4 mins. Now flip over and cook for another 2 to 3 mins.
  • Place the bread on wire rack. Repeat this with all the remaining bread.
  • Preheat oven to 180 degree C. Pop the wire rack into the oven and cook for 7 to 8 mins. This step will make sure the french toast cooks all the way through.
  • Remove and serve with some fruits and maple syrup

Notes

  • Use thick slices of bread for making french toast.
  • Soak the bread in the custard longer than usual, so the bread absorbs all the custard.
  • Cook the french toast in very low heat on both sides, else the toast may burn on outside.
  • Cooking on low heat will make the centre of the french toast cook and set.
  • Baking the cooked french toast in oven will make the french toast cook from inside and gets fluffy.
You can serve french toast with
  1. Salted Caramel Sauce
  2. Strawberry Compote
  3. Blueberry Compote
