Ingredients

  • For Mutton:
  • Mutton Bone - 500 grams
  • Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tblspn
  • Onion - 1 large chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
  • Water - 1 cup
  • For Curry:
  • Onion - 2 large sliced thinly
  • Green Chillies - 3 slit
  • Ginger Garlic Paste - 2 tblspn
  • Salt to taste
  • Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
  • Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder - 1 tblspn
  • Garam Masala Powder - 1 tsp
  • Coconut - ½ cup grated
  • Tomatoes - 3 large chopped
  • Potatoes - 2 large peeled and cubed
  • Drumstick - 1 chopped
  • Water as needed
  • Coriander leaves a big handful
  • For Seasoning:
  • Oil - ¼ cup
  • Cinnamon / Pattai - 3 cm piece
  • Fennel Seeds / Sombu / Saunf - 1 tblspn
  • Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam - 1 tsp
  • Cardamom / Yelakai - 5
  • Cloves / Krambu - 5
  • Bay Leaf - 1
  • Curry leaves a handful

Instructions

  • Take all the ingredients given for mutton in a pressure cooker, cover and pressure cook for 5 whistle, simmer the flame and cook for 15 mins. Turn off the heat and let the steam go all by itself. Open it and set aside.
  • Grind coconut into a fine paste and set aside.
  • Heat oil in a large pot, add in all the seasoning ingredients and let them sizzle for a min.
  • Add in onions, salt and turmeric and cook that till the onions soften.
  • Add in ginger garlic paste and saute for a min or so.
  • Now add in tomatoes and cook covered till mushy.
  • Add in spice powders and mix well.
  • Add in potatoes, drumsticks and cooked mutton and some water. Add in coconut paste and mix well.
  • Now bring this to a bowl, cover and simmer for 20 to 25 mins.
  • Now add in coriander leaves and mix well.
  • Serve.
