Simple Cabbage Dal Recipe with step by step pictures. This recipe is made mainly using split yellow moong dal and cabbage with some spices. It is very simple and you can serve it with rice.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Split yellow moong dal / Pasi paruppu
  • 4 cups Cabbage
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder / Manjal Podi
  • 2 to 3 Green Chillies
  • 2 tbsp Tamarind Pulp
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp Red Chilli flakes
  • 1 tbsp Ghee
  • 2 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • Water as needed
  • ½ tsp Sugar
  • Coriander leaves a handful finely chopped

Instructions

  • Take dal in a bowl and wash it well.
  • Add in cabbage, chillies, turmeric and water and bring it to a boil. Simmer the flame and cook for 20 mins till it is done.
  • Now add in salt, sugar, tamarind, chilli flakes and tamarind. Mix well. Simmer for 5 more mins.
  • Now heat ghee and crackl some cumin seeds. Pour this over the dal and mix well.
  • Top with lots of coriander leaves,
  • Serve with rice.
