Ingredients

  • 225 Grams Unsalted Soft Butter
  • 2 cup / 240 grams All Purpose Flour / Maida
  • 2 cup / 400 grams Sugar
  • 4 tbsp Cocoa Powder Use good quality
  • 1 cup / 240 ml Boiling Water
  • ¼ tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Baking Soda / Cooking Soda
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Essence
  • 2 Eggs
  • ½ cup / 120 ml Buttermilk
  • Chocolate Mousse
  • Chocolate Shavings as needed
  • Chocolate Syrup as needed I used storebought

Instructions

  • Take two 9 inch round baking pan, line the bottom with parchment paper and coat it with oil on all sides. Set aside.
  • Preheat oven to 180 Degree C.
  • Take butter in a sauce pan, melt it down, add in cocoa powder and mix well. Add in boiling water and let it boil for few sec.
  • Now take it off the heat and set aside.
  • Take eggs in a bowl, add in buttermilk, vanilla and baking soda. Mix well and Set aside.
  • Take flour, salt, sugar in a large bowl. Mix well.
  • Pour in the hot cocoa mix and give a gentle mix.
  • Add in egg mix and fold gently.
  • Divide the batter between two cake pans and bake for 20 to 30 mins.
  • Insert a toothpick to check whether the cake is done. If it comes clean then it is baked.
  • Remove the cake from oven and leave aside to cool a bit.
  • Invert the cake, peel off the parchment and set aside to cool completely.
  • When the cake is cooling, make the chocolate mousse.
  • Now take one of the round pan, line it with plastic wrap, place a cake in it, spread the mousse over it, place another cake over it, chill in the fridge for 15 mins.
  • Remove the cake carefully. Spread the mousse all over the cake.
  • Now take your chocolate sauce, pour it over the cake and top the cake with chocolate shavings.
  • Chill the cake overnight. Serve.
