Ingredients

  • ½ cup Rice
  • ½ cup Yellow Moong Dal
  • 1 small Onion chopped finely
  • 1 medium Tomato chopped finely
  • 1 Green Chillies chopped finely
  • 1 tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • ¼ tsp Asafoetida
  • 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • Ghee for serving
  • Coriander leaves a handful finely chopped
  • 4 cups Water

Instructions

  • Wash and soak rice and moong dal for 15 mins.
  • Heat oil in a cooker, add in cumin seeds, asafoetida and let them sizzle.
  • Add in onions and green chillies and saute till golden.
  • Add in ginger garlic paste and mix well.
  • Add in turmeric and mix well.
  • Add in water, tomatoes, salt and mix well. Add in soaked drained rice and dal. Mix well.
  • Bring it to a boil. Now cover and pressure cook for 4 to 5 whistle. Simmer the flame and cook for 5 mins.
  • Now mix well.
  • Spoon it into a bowl, Drizzle top with ghee and coriander leaves and serve.
