Calamansi Juice (Filipino Lemonade)

Calamansi Juice, refreshing filipino lemonade made with fresh calamansi, sugar and cold water. This tiny citrus fruit is also known as filipino lime, limao kasturi which is popular in Asian cuisine. Calamansi is usually used in marinades, grilled fish, chicken, desserts, baking. Equipment

  • Pitcher or Jug

Ingredients

  • 20 no Calamansi
  • ½ cup Sugar or to taste
  • 3 cups Cold Water or to taste
  • Ice Cubes

Instructions

  • Cut calamansi in half. Squeeze the juice from the calamansi. You can use citrus squeezer or just use your hands.
  • Strain the juice. Add in sugar and mix till sugar is melted completely. Add in cold water and mix well. Taste and adjust the sugar and cold water.
  • Fill your serving glass with ice cubes. Pour juice on top of ice and serve.

Notes

  • calamansi is naturally sour, so adjust the sugar and water amount by tasting. 
  • You can use green or orange calamansi in this beverage.
  • You can squeeze the calamansi pulp, strain it to remove the seeds and store the extracted juice in an air tight bottle in fridge for later use.
  • You can use honey, maple syrup as sweetener which will alter the colour and taste of the lemonade.

Calamansi Uses

You can use that in making beverages and also use in marinates while grilling fish, chicken or any meat. Calamansi is also used to make desserts, baking, cakes & muffins.
