Ingredients

  • ½ cup Yam / Chena Kizhangu peeled and chopped
  • ½ cup Raw Plantain / Keralan banana peeled and chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp Chilli Powder
  • 1 tsp Turmeric Powder / Manjal Podi
  • Water as needed
  • 1 cup Curd / Yogurt well beaten
  • To Grind:
  • ½ cup Fresh Coconut grated
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam
  • 1 Green Chilli
  • ½ tsp Whole Pepper
  • For Tempering:
  • 1 tbsp Coconut Oil
  • 1 tsp Mustard Seeds / Kaduku
  • Curry leaves a sprig
  • 1 Dry Red Chilli broken

Instructions

  • Take all grinding ingredients in a blender and make it into smooth paste.
  • Take chopped yam and plantain in a kadai. Add in chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt.
  • Add in water, cover and cook till the veggies are done.
  • If there is any water, evaporate it.
  • Add in coconut masala and mix well. Cook for 2 mins.
  • Add in beaten curd and mix well. Simmer for a min and turn off the heat.
  • Heat oil for tempering, add in all the ingredients and let it splatter. Pour this over the curry and mix well.
  • Serve.
