Lentil Curry Recipe with step by step pictures. Lentil cooked with vegetables into a curry and taste delicious. This dish taste best when served with hot rice.
Toor Dal / Tuvaram Paruppu / Split Pigeon Pea Lentil– 1 cup
Onion-1 chopped
Beans – 10 chopped
Tomatoes -2 chopped
Okra / Ladys finger – 5 chopped
Brinjal – 1 chopped
Green Chilli – 2
Curry leaves -1 spring
Turmeric Powder / Manjal – ½ tsp
Urad Dal / Ulundu – 1tsp
Mustard Seeds / Kaduku -1 tsp
Sesame Seeds / Yellu – 1tsp
Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam - 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Sugar – 1 tblspn
Tamarind paste– 1tblspn
Oil – 2 tblspn
Instructions
Soak toor dal for 30 mins..Drain it and add it to a pot. Cover it with water and add turmeric to it. Bring this to a boil and cook for 20 mins untill cooked.
Now heat oil in a kadai. Add mustard, urad dal, sesame seeds , cumin, onions, curry leaves , green chillies and mix well.
Add in tomatoes, beans, okra, brinjal and mix well..Fry this for 5 mins..
Now add the to the cooked dal and mix well.
Add tamarind, salt and sugar and mix well…Bring this to a boil and simmer for 10 mins.
