Ingredients

  • 1 large Egg
  • 2 tsp Sugar
  • ¼ tsp Vanilla extract
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1 cup All Purpose Flour (Plain flour)
  • 2 tsp Baking Powder
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • 2 tbsp Melted Butter or Oil

For Serving

  • Honey / Maple Syrup
  • Berries

Instructions

  • Take egg in a mixing. I used one large egg.
  • Add sugar. You don't need much sugar because we will be serving the pancakes with syrup.
  • Add in ¼ tsp vanilla extract. This is optional, I like to add for flavor.
  • Pour in milk and use a whisk to combine eggs, sugar and milk.
  • Now add in the flour. I used plain flour. Instead of plain flour you can use ½ cup wheat flour ½ cup of maida or use 1 cup of whole wheat flour.
  • Add in salt into the flour.
  • Add in baking powder. For pancakes you have to use little extra baking powder for fluffy texture. Mix the batter till smooth. Don’t over the batter.
  • Once the batter is mixed well, pour in melted butter. Instead of melted butter you can add any flavourless oil. For making pancakes you don’t add oil or butter in the pan instead you mix it into the batter. Mix the melted butter into the pancake batter.
  • Now heat a pan. You can use nonstick pan or cast-iron pan for making pancakes. Heat the pan on medium high heat. Once the pan is hot, pour ladleful of batter into the pan and cook on medium heat till you see bubbles forming on top. Once you see bubbles on the pancakes, you can flip the pancakes and cook for few more seconds.
  • Remove the pancakes to a serving plate, top with berries or any fruits of choice. Drizzle with honey or maple syrup and enjoy.

Notes

  • You can use whole wheat flour instead of plain flour.
  • Almond milk, soy milk can be used for regular milk.
  • Instead of melted butter, you can opt for vegetable oil.
  • If you find your batter is too thin, then add 2 tbsp of extra plain flour.
