Ingredients

  • Oil- 1 tblspn
  • Fennel Seeds / Sombu / Saunf - 1 tsp
  • Cinnamon Stick / Pattai - 1 small piece
  • Onion - 1 large sliced thinly
  • Tomatoes - 3 large chopped finely
  • Chilli powder - 2 tsp or to taste
  • Coriander powder / Malli podi - 1 tblspn
  • Turmeric Powder / Manjal Podi - ½ tsp
  • Garam masala powder - 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Sugar - 1 tsp optional
  • Rice Flour / Arisi Mavu - 2 tsp
  • Coriander leaves / Cilantro for garnishing

Instructions

  • Heat oil in a pan. Add in fennel seeds and cinnamon. Saute this for 30 sec.
  • Add onions in and fry them. You can add some salt at this point. Fry the onions till they turn golden brown.
  • Now add in chilli, coriander, turmeric and garam masala powder and mix well.
  • Add in tomatoes and cook till they turn mushy. It will take around 10 mins.
  • Now pour over some water and simmer for 5 mins.
  • Now mix rice flour with some water and add that in. Mix well and simmer for 2 mins.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and mix well.
  • Serve with dosa or poori or anything as you like..
