Ingredients

  • ½ kg Mutton / Lamb chopped into small pieces
  • 1 tsp Turmeric Powder / Manjal Podi
  • 1 tsp Chilli Powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 sprig Curry leaves
  • 1 medium size Tomato chopped
  • 1 tbsp Coconut Oil
  • Coriander Leaves for garnishing
  • For Grinding:
  • 4 peeled and sliced Shallots / Sambar Onion
  • 6 cloves Garlic
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam
  • 1 tsp Whole Pepper

Instructions

  • Take mutton, salt, turmeric powder in a pressure cooker.
  • Add in 2 cups of water and pressure cook it for 10 whistle, simmer for 10 mins, turn off the heat and let them steam go all by itself.
  • Open the cooker, Now drain the mutton and stock. You can use the mutton to make thoran.
  • Take the grinding ingredients in a blender and crush them.
  • Heat oil in a kadai. Add the ground masala and mix well. Add in tomatoes, curry leaves and saute once.
  • Add in turmeric, chilli powder and salt. Mix well.
  • Now pour in the stock and bring it to a boil.
  • Once it reaches boil, turn off the heat and add coriander leaves.
  • Serve with rice.
