Ingredients

  • Onion - 1 chopped
  • Tomato - 1 chopped
  • Eggs - 3
  • Green Chilli - 2
  • Salt to taste
  • Turmeric powder / Manjal podi - ½ tsp
  • For Frying and grinding:
  • Onion - 1 sliced
  • Tomatoes - 1 chopped
  • Coconut - ½ cup
  • Fennel Seeds / Sombu / Saunf - 1 tblspn
  • Whole Pepper- 1 tsp
  • Cinnamon / pattai - 1 inch stick
  • Curry leaves - 1 spring
  • Chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Coriander powder / Malli podi - 1 tblspn
  • Turmeric powder / Manjal podi - ½ tsp
  • Oil - 3 tblspn

Instructions

  • Let's make the masala. Heat Oil in a kadai. Add fennel, pepper and cinnamon. Saute for a min.
  • Add in onions, curry leaves  and cook for 3 mins. Throw in chilli powder and coriander powder . Mix well.
  • Add in tomatoes and cook till they turn mushy. Add in coconut and saute for 5 mins till they turn golden.
  • Remove them and make into a fine puree and set aside.
  • Now add onions, tomatoes and green chilli in a pan. Add water and salt and sugar and cover and cook till they are cooked.
  • Add in the ground masala and mix well. Cook till oil separates.
  • Add in the well beaten egg slowly and mix well. Cover and cook for 5 mins.
  • Serve with roti, dosa or parotta.
