Toor Dal Rice Upma Recipe

Ingredients

  • Raw Rice - 1 cup
  • Toor Dal - ½ cup
  • Oil - 2 tblsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • Urad dal - 1 tsp
  • Asafoetida / Hing / Kaya podi a pinch
  • Onion - 1 chopped finely
  • Green Chillies - 2 chopped finely
  • Salt to taste
  • Curry leaves a sprig
  • Salt to taste
  • Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
  • Water as needed

Instructions

  • Take raw rice and toor dal in a blender and powder till fine.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add in mustard, and all ingredients given and saute for a min.
  • Add in 1 cup water for 1 cup ground powder.
  • Bring it to a boil.
  • Once it boils add in the flour. Mix well using the back of the spoon.
  • If it is not crumbly add more flour and mix well.
  • Cook till it gets crumbly.
  • Cover and simmer for 5 mins.
  • Serve.
