Palak Paneer | Palak Paneer Recipe

Delicious palak paneer made the authentic way. Restaurant style palak paneer is creamy and taste absolutely delicious with roti or naan.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups Palak / Spinach
  • 4 tbsp Butter
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 Piece Cinnamon Stick
  • 4 Cardamom Pods
  • 2 large Onion chopped finely
  • 2 large Tomatoes Pureed
  • 2 Green Chillies chopped finely
  • 1 tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 1 tbsp Chilli powder
  • 2 tsp Cumin powder
  • 1 tsp Garam masala powder
  • 1 tbsp Coriander powder
  • 200 grams Paneer
  • ½ cup Heavy Cream
  • 1 tbsp Kasuri Methi Leaves
  • Salt

Instructions

  • Bring lots of water to a boil. Add in spinach leaves and cook for a couple of minutes.
  • Remove from water and add it to a blender. Puree till smooth.
  • Heat butter in a pan, add cumin seeds, cinnamon and cardamom and let them sizzle.
  • Add in finely chopped onions, green chillies and cook till golden brown.
  • Add in ginger garlic paste and saute for 2 mins or so.
  • Add tomato puree and mix well. Cook for 5 mins or so.
  • Add in spice powders and cook for further few minutes.
  • Add in the spinach puree and mix well.
  • Simmer for 10 mins or so.
  • Add in paneer and mix well.
  • Now add in kasuri methi leaves and cream and mix well.
  • Serve hot with naan or roti.

Notes

  1. Don't boil the spinach too much, else it may loose its colour.
  2. Use fresh paneer or store bought paneer as you like.
  3. If you are using store bought paneer, cut it into small pieces, soak it in warm water for 10 mins until needed.
  4. If you don't have cream, use milk mixed with little cornstarch for thickening. 
  5. Once you add spinach puree, don't cover the pan when cooking. Else it may lose its colour.
