Millets Kozhukattai Recipe

Ingredients

  • Varagu / Kodo Millet - 1 cup
  • Saamai / Little Millet - 1 cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Coconut - 1 cup grated
  • Oil - 1 tblspn
  • Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
  • Urad dal - 2 tblspn
  • Asafoetida / Hing / Kaya Podi - ½ tsp
  • Dry Red Chilli - 4 broken into small pieces
  • Curry leaves a handful

Instructions

  • Take varagu and saamai in a bowl and wash well. Cover with water and let it soak for 8 to 10 hours. Drain and set aside.
  • Take it in a blender and puree coarsely.
  • Take it in a bowl, add coconut and salt and mix well.
  • Heat oil in a kadai, add mustard, urad dal, chillies and curry leaves. Let them sizzle.
  • Add it into the millet mix.
  • Make this into small balls.
  • Bring lots of water to a boil, drop kozhukattai in and simmer it and cook for 10 to 15 mins on low heat.
  • Drain and serve.
