Soya Chunks Potato Curry Recipe

Ingredients

  • Oil - 1 tblspn
  • Fennel Seeds / Saunf / Sombu - 1 tsp
  • Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam - 1 tsp
  • Cinnamon / Pattai - 1 small stick
  • Bay Leaf - 1
  • Onion - 1 large finely chopped
  • Green Chilli - 2
  • Tomatoes - 2 large pureed
  • Chilli Powder - 2 tsp
  • Turmeric Powder / Manjal Podi - 1 tsp
  • Coriander Powder - 2 tsp
  • Garam Masala Powder - 1 tsp
  • Potatoes - 1 large peeled and cubed
  • Soya Chunks - 1 cup check this link
  • Milk - ½ cup
  • Coriander Leaves a handful finely chopped
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  • Cook soya chunks as given in this link, drain it, squeeze it and set aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add in all whole spices and let them sizzle.
  • Now add in onions sprinkle over some salt. Saute till lightly translucent.
  • Add in spice powders and add a dash of water and cook the spice powders till oil separates.
  • Add in tomato puree and mix well. Bring it to a boil and simmer till you see thin layer of oil floating on top.
  • Now add in potatoes and some water. Cover and cook till potatoes are done.
  • Now add in soya chunks, add more water if needed and cook this for a further 5 mins or so.
  • Now add in milk and coriander leaves and mix well.
  • Serve.
