Ingredients
  

  • ngredients:
  • Chana Dal / Kadalai Paruppu - 1 cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh Coconut - ½ cup grated
  • Oil - 1 tsp
  • Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
  • Urad dal - 1 tsp
  • Asafoetida / Hing / Kaya podi a pinch
  • Curry leaves a sprig
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon choppedfinely
  • Green Chilli - 1 finely chopped
  • Turmeric Powder - ½ tsp

Instructions
 

  • Method:
  • Wash and soak chana dal for 4 hours.
  • Drain and take them in a sauce pan, cover with water and cook for 5 mins till it is cooked completely.
  • Drain and set aside.
  • Now heat oil in a pan, add mustard, urad dal and let them sizzle.
  • Add in asafoetida and mix well
  • .Add in ginger, green chilli and curry leaves and let them sizzle.
  • Add in turmeric powder and mix well.
  • Add chana dal, salt and coconut and toss well.
  • Serve.
