Chow Chow Kuzhambu Recipe

Chow chow kuzhambu or chayote kuzhambu recipe with step by step pictures. This delicious kuzhambu is made with chayote and spices. This curry goes well with rice.

Ingredients
  

  • Chow Chow / Chayote - 1 big ones
  • Salt to taste
  • Turmeric Powder / Manjal Podi - 1 tsp
  • Water - 2 cups
  • For Masala:
  • Oil - 1 tsp
  • Coriander Seeds / Malli - 2 tblspn
  • Dry Red Chillies - 3 to 4
  • Cumin Seeds / Jeera - 1 tsp
  • Onions - 1 medium size chopped
  • Tomatoes - 1 large chopped roughly
  • Garlic - 3 cloves
  • For Seasoning:
  • Oil - 1 tblspn
  • Mustard Seeds / Kaduku - 1 tsp
  • Urad dal / ulundu paruppu - 1 tsp

Instructions
 

  • Take chow chow in a kadai, add in salt and turmeric powder. Add in water and cook till it is done.
  • Now make masala. heat oil in a pan, add in the ingredients and saute for 3 to 5 mins. Now take this in a blender and puree till smooth.
  • Add this to the cooked chayote and mix well. Cook this for few more mins till oil separates,
  • Make seasoning, heat oil and crackle in some mustard and urad dal. Pour this into the curry and mix well. Serve
