Ingredients
  

  • Poha / Aval / Flattened Rice - 2 cups
  • Potato - 1 medium size peeled and cubed
  • Oil - 2 tblspn
  • Onion - 1 small chopped finely
  • Green Chillies - 3 to 5 chopped finely
  • Peanuts - 2 tblspn
  • Chana Dal / Kadalai Paruppu - 1 tsp
  • Urad dal / Ulundu Paruppu - 1 tsp
  • Mustard Seeds / Kaduku - 1 tsp
  • Asafoetida / Hing / Kaya Podi - ¼ tsp
  • Curry leaves a sprig
  • Salt to taste
  • Sugar- ½ tsp + ½ tsp
  • Turmeric Powder / Manjal Podi - ½ tsp + ½ tsp
  • Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
  • Lemon Juice to taste
  • Coriander leaves a handful finely chopped
  • Water - ½ cup

Instructions
 

  • Take poha in a bowl. Add in water, salt, ½ tsp sugar, ½ tsp turmeric and mix well. Set aside.
  • Now heat oil in a kadai. Add in peanuts and roast till golden. Add in mustard, chana dal, urad dal, hing and mix well. Fry till it turns golden.
  • Add in onions, curry leaves and green chilli. Add in little salt and sugar along with turmeric. Mix well.
  • Now add in potatoes and chilli powder, Mix well. Cover and simmer till potatoes are cooked.
  • Now increase the heat and roast the potatoes till it gets golden.
  • Now add in the poha and toss well. Once everything is heated up, add in coriander leaves and lemon juice.
  • Mix well and serve.
