Colourful Beetroot Dal Recipe - Toddler Special Recipes

  • - 1 cup Split yellow moong dal / Pasi paruppu
  • - 1 large peeled and grated Beetroot
  • - 6 to 8 peeled Shallots / Sambar Onion
  • - 6 fat cloves peeled Garlic
  • - 1 or to taste Green Chillies
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 to 3 cups Water
  • For Seasoning:
  • - 1 tblspnGhee or Oil
  • - 2 tsp Cumin Seeds


  • Take dal in a bowl and wash it well. Add in beetroot, chillies, small onion, garlic and water and bring it to a boil. Simmer the flame and cook for 20 mins till it is done.
  • Now add in salt and  mix well.
  • Now heat ghee and crackle some cumin seeds and curry leaves. Pour this over the dal and mix well.
  • Top with lots of coriander leaves,
  • Serve with rice.
