Ingredients

Masoor Dal or Moong Dal
▢

large Potato peeled and cubed
▢
1
small Onion chopped into large chunks
▢

medium size Tomato cubed
▢

slit Green Chilli
▢

Homemade Sambar powder
▢

Tamarind Pulp
▢
Salt to taste
▢

Sugar
▢
Coriander leaves / Cilantro a handful chopped

For Seasoning:

Mustard Seeds / Kaduku

Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam

Instructions
▢
Heat a pot, add in dal, potato, tomato, onions, green chilli.
▢
Cover with water and bring it to boil. Simmer it for 20 to 30 mins till the dal and everything is cooked.
▢
Now add in sambar powder, tamarind pulp, salt and sugar. Mix well and simmer for 5 mins.
▢
Now make seasoning, heat oil and add in all the seasoning ingredients in it. Let it sizzle for 30 sec.
▢
Pour this over the sambar and mix well.
▢
Now add in coriander leaves and mix well.
▢
Serve with rice.
