Kollu Podi Recipe

Kollu Podi Recipe with step by step pictures. This recipe is made with protein rich horsegram along with Indian spices. It can be served as a side for idli or dosa or we can mix with hot steaming rice.

Ingredients

  • ¼ kg Horse Gram / Kollu / Kanam
  • 4 to 5 Dry Red Chilli
  • 6 big cloves Garlic
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam
  • ¼ tsp Asafoetida / Hing / Kaya Podi
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  • Heat a heavy bottom pan on medium heat. Add in horsegram and roast them for a good 10 mins till it turns darker and is nicely toasted.Remove it to a bowl.
  • In the same kadai. Add in chilli, cumin and asafoetida. Roast them for a couple of mins. Transfer it to the same bowl.
  • Now add garlic and salt to it and let them cool.
  • Now take them in blender and make into a fine powder.
  • Store it in air tight container.

Notes

1)If you want to store this for longer time store it in fridge.
2)This powder can be stored in fridge for many months.
3)Dont use wet spoons while handling it.
