  • Rice - 1 cup
  • Salt to taste

For Peanut Powder:

  • Peanuts - 3 tblspn
  • Dry Red Chilli - 2 to 3
  • Sesame Seeds / Yellu - 1 tblspn
  • Coconut - 2 tblspn grated

For Tempering:

  • Oil - 1 tblspn
  • Mustard Seeds / Kaduku - 1 tsp
  • Urad dal / Ulundu Paruppu - 1 tsp
  • Channa Dal / Kadala Paruppu - 1 tsp
  • Curry leaves - 1 spring


  • Take 1 cup rice in a pressure cooker, cover with 2.5 cup of water and pressure cook rice for 2 whistle and simmer for 5 mins. Switch off the flame and let the steam go all by itself. Now fluff the rice with fork and allow it to cool down.
  • Now heat a pan on medium heat. Add in peanuts and roast it for 5 mins on a dry pan. Now add in dry red chilli and roast it for couple of mins. Now add in sesame seeds and roast it for a min. Now add in coconut and roast it for 3 mins till it turns light golden.
  • Remove this whole thing on a plate and allow it to cool down. Take this in a blender and Grind this to a coarse mixture.
  • Heat oil in a kadai and add all the tempering ingredients. Saute for a min.
  • Now add in rice and mix well. Season with salt and mix well.
  • Now add the powdered peanuts and toss well.
  • Serve hot.
