Broccoli lasagna is made with simple ingredients like fresh broccoli, garlic, plain flour, milk, seasonings and lasagna sheets. Making broccoli lasagna is simple and easy to follow which makes it a perfect weeknight meal. I assemble the whole lasagna in the morning and bake during dinner time. Heat butter in a pan. Add in garlic and sauté until fragrant.
Add in plain flour and stir fry for 1 minute until raw smell leaves from the mixture. Now pour in milk and whisk well until it is lump free. Now bring this to a boil, the sauce will thicken slightly.
Add in shredded broccoli into the sauce and cook for 2 minutes. Add in salt, white pepper, ground nutmeg, Italian seasonings and mix well. Finally add in cheese and mix. Broccoli sauce is ready.
Let’s assemble lasagna. Take a deep baking tray. Spoon a ladleful of broccoli sauce in the base, lay three sheets of lasagna pasta, spoon some broccoli sauce and place another 3 sheets of pasta. Repeat this until you have 4 layers. Finally spread broccoli sauce, top with cheese in an even layer.
Cover the baking tray with foil and bake covered at 200 degree c for 45 minutes, remove the cover and grill for 5 mins till golden.
Remove the tray from oven, let it sit for 15 minutes. Now slice and serve.

Notes
Instead of using butter, you can olive oil for more lighter option.
Make sure to shred broccoli as fine as possible. So it disintegrates into the sauce.
Wheat flour can be used instead of plain flour.
You can add as much cheese as possible.
Storage & Serving
You can assemble the lasagna, wrap it tightly with multiple layers of plastic wrap and layer of foil and pop it in fridge upto 2 to 3 days.You can freeze it upto a month. Lasagna can be baked straight from freezer.
