Wheat Rava Kesari Recipe (Godhumai Rava Kesari)

Wheat rava kesari also known as samba godhumai rava kesari is a popular and healthy sweet recipe made from wheat rava, sugar, ghee and cashews. It is one of the quickest and healthiest Indian desserts that can be prepared in less than 30 minutes. It is perfect for breakfast, mini tiffin, evening snack and for special occasions. It tastes best when served at warm or at room temperature.

Equipment

  • Pressure cooker

Ingredients

  • ½ cup Wheat Rava | Broken Wheat
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1 cup Water
  • ¾ cup Sugar
  • ½ tsp Ground Cardamom
  • tsp Food Colouring optional
  • 1 tbsp Ghee

For Frying Nuts

  • 2 tbsp Ghee
  • 2 tbsp Cashews
  • 2 tbsp Golden Sultanas

Instructions

  • Heat 1 tbsp ghee in a pressure cooker. Add in wheat rava and roast for a min. Add in milk and water and mix well. Cover and pressure cook for 2 whistle, simmer the flame and cook for 5 mins. Turn off the heat and let the steam go all by itself. Open the cooker.
  • Add in sugar and keep cooking till it gets thick. Add little food colouring if you need.
  • Now heat 2 tbsp ghee in a pan, add in cashews and fry till golden, add in kishmish and fry for few seconds. Pour this over the kesari and mix well. Add in cardamom powder and mix well. Serve warm.
