Stollen Recipe | Recipe for German Stollen Bread
Stollen recipe with step by step pictures. Stollen is a traditional German bread usually eaten during the Christmas season. Bread has dried fruits and nuts added in it usually it has marzipan used in the recipe for stollen.

Warm Milk - ¾ cup
Sugar - 3 tblspn
Dry Yeast - 2 tsp
All Purpose Flour / Maida - 2 cups + more as needed
Salt - ¼ tsp
Butter - 4 tblspn melted
Dried fruits - ¾ cup
Rum - 3 tblspn
Cinnamon Powder - 1 tsp
Nutmeg Powder - ¼ tsp
Powder - ¼ tsp
Egg - 1
Confectioners Sugar / Icing Sugar - ¼ cup for dusting on top
Couple days before baking, soak dried fruits in rum.
Heat warm milk in a bowl, add sugar and mix well. Add in yeast and set aside for 5 mins so the yeast activates.
Now add in egg and whisk well.
Now take flour, salt in a bowl and whisk well.
Add in the soaked dried fruits and mix well.
Add the milk mix and melted butter and knead to a dough.
Cover and set aside for 1 hour.
Now punch back the air out and add the spice powders and knead well.
Now Shape it into log like and place it in a parchment lined baking pan.
Let it rise for 30 mins. During the last 10 mins of rising, preheat oven to 190 degree C / 375 degree F. oven.
Now brush the top with egg and bake for 25 to 30 mins in a 190 degree C / 375 degree F. oven.
Remove from oven and brush the top with melted butter. Once it is cooled enough, sprinkle top with confectioners sugar. Slice and serve.
