Ingredients

  • Chicken - ½ kg cut into small pieces
  • Onion - 1 large chopped
  • Tomatoes - 2 large chopped
  • Capsicum - 1 cubed
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1 tblspn
  • Chilli powder - 2 tsp
  • Coriander powder - 1 tblspn
  • Garam masala powder - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder / Manjal podi - 1 tsp
  • Pepper powder - 1 tsp
  • Cinnamon / Pattai - 1 small piece
  • Fennel Seeds / Sombu / Saunf - 1 tblspn
  • Curry leaves - 1 spring
  • Coriander leaves / Cilantro - for garnishing
  • Lemon juice - 1 tblspn
  • Oil - 2 tblspn
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  • Take a pressure cooker, add 1 tblspn of oil and heat it up.
  • Add in cinnamon and fennel seeds and saute for a min.
  • Add in onions, curry leaves and saute till they turn light brown.
  • Add in all the spice powders, salt and ginger garlic paste and mix well.
  • Throw in tomatoes and cook for 5 mins till they turn mushy.
  • Add in the cut chicken pieces and mix well with the masala.
  • Pour in ½ cup of water and cover the pressure cooker.
  • Let it cook for 4 whistle. Simmer the flame and let it cook for 5 mins. Switch off the flame and let the pressure go all by itself.
  • Now heat 1 tblspn of oil in a kadai.
  • Add in capsicum and cook for a min on high heat.
  • Add in the cooked chicken mixture and toss well with the oil.
  • Add in pepper powder and toss again.
  • Throw in lots of coriander leaves and squeeze in some lemon juice.
  • Toss everything well.
  • Serve with rice.
