Ingredients

  • 1 large Raw Mango chopped
  • 1 tsp Turmeric Powder / Manjal podi
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp Sugar
  • For Grinding:
  • 1 cup Coconut
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds / Jeerakam
  • 1 tsp or 2 Chilli Powder or Dry Red Chilli
  • For Tempering:
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Mustard Seeds / Kaduku

Instructions

  • Take all your ingredients in a blender and make into a slightly coarse puree.
  • Take mangoes, salt, sugar and turmeric powder in a kadai.
  • Cover with water and cook for 15 mins till the mangoes are half done.
  • Now add in the coconut masala and add some water and cook for 10 more mins till the mangoes are completely cooked.
  • Now make the seasoning, by heating oil and add in mustard seeds. Let this crackle for a min.
  • Pour this over the avial and mix well.
  • Serve with rice and any gravy.
