Amma goes crazy for this avial, she loves it all the time. Whenever she sees a mango lying around the first thing she ask me is “can we make mango avial today”. I like this, but not so crazy like her. If you like sweet, salt and spicyness all combined in your dishes then this is the answer. This is one of her speciality and everyone in my family ask her to cook it whenever they drop in.

I made this today. My friend came to visit and brought me a big bag of dried mangos. They were so good, but had to be used quickly, because the expiry day was close. So I simmered them in hot water for a bit and used them like fresh mangoes to make this avial. At first my husband was surprised that it was so sweet, because usually I don't make sweet avials, but we both enjoyed it. I served it with some hot masala rice.
Nice n tangy…. Love the recipe
Do you have it without adding coconut?
@AnonymousCOconut is must in avial.
