Apple galette is an easy, rustic dessert that is made with a buttery, flaky crust filled with sweet apples and is full of flavours . Galette is a free form of pie that is much easier to make than a traditional apple pie. You don’t need a pie dish or any fancy pie making skills. Just roll out the dough, place the apple filling in the middle and fold the edges over. Then bake until the crust turns golden and the apple becomes soft. It is a perfect treat when you have sudden sweet cravings, it is so warm, comforting and simple homemade dessert.
Preheat oven to 200 degree C. Line a baking sheet with foil and butter it really well. Set aside.
Peel, chop, deseed apple and slice them thinly. Take them in a bowl, add in sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, melted butter and toss well.
Now take your pastry, divide it into two portions. Roll each dough between two sheets of plastic wrap thinly. Peel the top layer of plastic. flip it over a well buttered foil lined baking sheet. Peel off the top layer as well.
Now spoon a tablespoon of jam on to them and spread it, leaving a border around the edges.
Arrange the apples and bring the pastry in to create a border. Seam the edges as well.
Now brush the edges with butter, sprinkle some sugar on top of apples and drizzle some butter as well.
Bake this for 35 to 45 mins until the pastry is golden and apples is cooked and the tart is bubbly.
Remove it from oven and let it sit for 10 mins.
Now remove it from tray and serve with a scoop of ice cream.
